School started this week for our family. Lauren was off to Marsh Pointe, a brand new elementary school, McKay went to Beacon Cove, and Emma went to our living room. They were all a little nervous to start new schools, but came home with gleaming
smiles. McKay commented, "I feel like I've known my
teacher my whole life." Luckily, he has many friends from prior years in the class and seems to be where he belongs. At the open house Lauren's teacher Mrs. Schwartz told Lauren that many people mispronounce her name as Mrs. Shorts, so she said they could be the shirts and the shorts. Lauren was quite honored she was asked to be the line leader on the very first day. Emma is just thrilled that
she is now a part of packing a lunch and snack every night. We have tried hard to include her in the "back to school" prep activities so she wouldn't feel jipped, but I had no idea how much Sierra would feel deprived she doesn't have a back pack or lunch box. She keeps trying to take the other kids school equipment and claim it for herself.

McKay was told that Heavenly Father was aware of his feelings and was excited for him. He was told this would be his best school year ever and that he would learn about things he had never even thought about before. He was told to eat lots of healthy food as this will be a year he will grow alot. He was admonished to be a good friend and an example of how to behave. He was blessed with a quick and sharp mind, safety, and told he would blossom this year and learn to be a great writer.
Lauren was blessed to know that Heavenly Father was aware of her feelings, and that if she was ever sad or scared to remember that Jesus was with her and would send angels to be with her. She was reminded that Mom and Dad were always praying for. She was told to pray often and grow spiritually. She was told that if others did things that bothered her to just ignore them. She was promised that her mind would be capapble of learning much. She was also told her talents of art, music, and running would surface more this year.
Lauren had to be dropped off at school before the doors were opened because Russ couldn't find a parking spot to stop and walk her in, and he needed to get McKay to another school right away. When he called and told me this I was very concerned that this would have caused immense trauma since Lauren is so sensitive. I asked her about it when I picked her up, she said at first she was a little scared, but then she remembered her blessing and felt fine. I'm sure a few angels were sent to comfort her.
Emma opted to have her blessing later this week. So we'll be editing this post when she decides she's ready.
All in all I feel really good about the education the kids are receiving, and am so grateful for all their teachers do to help them love to learn. Now we just need the hurricane to blow over so we can get back for day two.
