Struck Dumb
The other day we were reading as a family in the Book of Mormon about Alma the younger. We read about his account of seeing an angel, and "now the astonishment of Alma was so great that he became dumb, that he could not open his mouth". We stopped and explained to the kids that being struck dumb doesn't mean that you get stupid, it means that you can't speak. Emma leaned over to her grandma and said, "that happened to my mom when she went to the dentist." I think she confused numb, and dumb, and remembered how I couldn't talk very well after my latest root canal. I love the cute comments Emma always makes.
