I went to a fireside last week that was about balancing our lives. They emphasized the importance of retreating and recharging. Getting away and having some quiet time. I decided last Saturday would be a great day for me to take a retreat, and be refueled before we started the busier school routine.
Russ was so supportive and watched the kids all day. I started by attending the temple - no better place to meditate and refocus. Then I went to a specialty fabric store that specializes in smocking. I was in heaven looking at all the beautiful fabrics and books. I decided to start a dress for the girls to wear on their baptism day, since Lauren will be 8 before we know it.
Then I took McKay to get new school shoes and picked up the babysitter on the way back so Russ and I could attend the Saturday night session of Stake Conference. It was neat to hear from our church leaders, especially there were many I hadn't met yet here. It was obvious they were very inspired individuals with great counsel. We haven't been on a date for a long time, so it was the perfect way to end a very relaxing day.

sounds like a much needed break. now when do we get to have a girls night out together???
Sounds like a lovely day! And smocking...you are a brave woman! I grew up with a family friend who smocked - her daughter's had the most amazing dresses. I found Lindsay's dress online in J Crew's Crew Cuts line for kids. On your table...I think it looks like a beautiful foyer piece - Bill and Shirley were in town for Lindsay's baptism and they commented on the basketball hoop in the foyer situation - it was too cute! Just watch the glass - go with seasonal non-breakable stuff.
