Lauren received a special award at school. She was recognized as a student who demonstrated character. Their was an assembly where a class sang a "character counts" song and then students were awarded a certificate. We were honored to get to see her big day, and pleased with the good choices she is making.
(This picture is noteworthy because the boy next to Lauren is Sean. He came and introduced himself to Russ and I as "Lauren's boyfriend". He asked if she could come over some time for a play date. Then he introduced us to his parents and said he wanted a special picture taken of just he and Lauren, in which he posed with his arm around her. That week Lauren got a letter form his written with fine penmanship asking her to come over and play, with an apology that he mostly had boy toys but he was sure they could play some board games together. This would all be lovely, but for the fact that she is 6 years old. Luckily we dodged that bullet because a few days later she commented that she and Sean had "got offtrack now". I was relieved until her next sentence was "but Cruz has a crush on me". Oh brother, I am so not ready for teenagers. Hopefully boys will have cooties soon and we'll have a little reprieve before junor high.
