Thanksgiving 2011

This year I proposed the idea of having a non-traditional, think outside the box kind of Thanksgiving.  Since it seems like quite a bit of the traditional menu items aren't the families favorites, I figured we'd deviate from the pilgrim-style diet and eat anything we wanted.  I told them we would go around and name our very favorite foods and that is what we would serve.  That way I wouldn't have to throw away all the left over yams and stuffing that no one really likes anyway.
Russ did not jump on this idea.  He started out the list of favorite requests with, "my favorite food is Turkey and mashed potatoes" I thought for sure the kids would say pizza or spaghetti, but they took Russ' lead and each mentioned traditional Thanksgiving items.  What is a mother to do.  Turkey it was - with all the trimmings.
