Our cheering squad
Whenever we go to South Carolina for the holidays we always try to gather all the family up for a family football game. I am not very good at throwing the ball, or catching the ball, but I try really hard to annoy the person I'm guarding well enough that they also struggle to catch the ball. Most years the other woman play about as well as I do, mom, Suzanne and I give it our best, but don't expect to win a Heisman, and just try not to embarass ourselves too much. This year the bar has been raised though. Our newest sister-in-law Natasha was playing like a champ. She actually caught the ball multiple times and knew where to run once she caught it. To make matters worse Catherine had just finished being the captain of the intramural football team at BYU, so she not only knew how to throw and catch the ball, but also knew how to set up plays and strategize like a pro. I guess I better start passing the ball with McKay a little more often to train for the family football game of 2009, since I can no longer blame my gender for my lousy football skills.
On another note, I would like to mention, or actually I would like to brag, that even though I'm terrible at playing football, I'm pretty good at picking my bowl games. Russ graphed out every bowl game and had each of us choose who we thought would win each game. I randomly chose my teams based on if I had ever heard of them before, if I had visited the city they were from, or if I felt like supporting our armed services. (For basketball my March Madness pics are based solely on the modesty level of the cheerleaders, the less midriff that is showing, the better chance I think they have of winning-but that is for another blog entry, besides if that were the case BYU would win the National Championship every year, and we certainly know that hasn't happened.) Russ chose his teams based on team rankings, which team's quarterback had won the Heisman trophy, etc. I picked 24 teams correctly, Russ predicted 16 correctly. The thing that tickles me the most is that Emma guessed 18 right, two more than Russ.
