Of all the wonderful attributes that Emma has, her compassion and generosity stand out the most. Emma never has any money, not because she doesn't receive any, but because she gives it away the second she gets it. My neighbor came over the other day and asked to talk to me outside. I thought maybe one of the kids had done something wrong. Then she slipped me some money that Emma had given her that she felt bad keeping. Whenever someone is crying she quickly tries to find something to give them to help them feel better.
There was recently an earthquake in China. We explained to the kids that we would like to donate some money to help them because many were now homeless. Emma searched for weeks for change in couches or old purses trying to collect as much as possible for the "China people". She would give the shirt off her back to someone in need in a heartbeat.

Emma is her own person. She is not swayed much by what others think, she just lives life to the fullest, and doesn't mind if her clothes are on backwards or her chocolate cake is smeared all over her face, she's ready to face the world just as she is.

I can see Emma becoming a nurse someday. She loves to help people feel better, and always wants to be the one to administer a bandaid or stick my vitamin on my tongue, or rub a spot that hurts. She also always reminds me to rub softly a bug bite instead of itching it.

I love Emma's easy going personality. It's been a blessing to get to teach her pre-school at home. As soon as Sierra takes her nap, it's just me and her. She's really eager to learn new sounds and letters and make patterns and count with bears. Even though her backpack is from someone's garbage, and her batman lunch box dates back to McKays very early years, she never complains. She did however ask if when she went to college she could maybe get a new one. I'm pretty sure we can swing that for you Emma.
Even though I sometimes worry a little about having Sierra and the new baby being so young at the same time, I know Emma will be around to help me out, that gives me a lot of comfort since she is such a willing helper. I'm so grateful to be Emma's mom.

Emma asked me if she paid me yet for being the best teacher in the whole world.
