Family Home Evening Talent Night

We were blessed to have guest speakers at Family Home Evening this week. Our neighbors came over for dinner and a lesson on talents and how we can develop them. Russ gave a lesson about the parable of the talents, and then we went next door to learn about our neighbor's talent of painting. He even let the children paint some of the sheep on a picture he is doing for his nephew's church.

Then his wife shared some of her talent. Baking delicious pies.

We feel extremely blessed to have such loving, kind, and talented neighbors. They may also be some of the hardest working people we know. One time I saw Jose sweeping up the gutters late on a Friday night. I told him he was supposed to be home relaxing. He smiled and said, "this is how I relax". Another time I noticed he was in our front yard weeding our flower beds. We told him he did not need to do that for us, (especially since he has trimmed our yard, fixed our fence, not to mention countless other anonimous acts of service in our behalf). He smiled and said, "The Lord told me to come weed your flowers". How do you respond to that. Other than saying, well I guess the Lord wants me to get my children and come weed with you.
