We had a great Spring Break camping with the Talbots at the Colorado Bend State Park. It was the most beautiful campsite I have ever stayed at, with a river and large grassy area right around our tent area. It was great to divvy up the meal preparation. Since there was a burn ban we had to great creative with the Coleman stove.

We had french toast, green pancakes on St. Pat's day, sloppy joes, taco salad, cold cereal and lots of picnic lunches. McKay and Drew passed off some cooking requirements for scouts.

We went on some beautiful hikes which wrapped around multiple waterfalls. Once it got a little treacherous the girls headed back for a little dip in the water.

It looks like Emma got more than a little dip. The rocks were a little slippery, and all of a sudden Emma went right in.

Luckily, we were all tough girls who could handle it.

When we heard the next hike involved lots of rock climbing and scaling cliffs, we decided to stay back at camp and work on some crafts - good old fashioned rock painting.

The kids also had great time flying kites. I loved watching Savannah run with all her might to keep it aflight. This picture shows how nice and big the tent sights were.

The children also wrote about the animals they had seen and the experiences that they had and earned the right to be official Jr. Rangers. They were sworn in during a special ceremony.

Just relaxing in the great outdoors is probably the best memory of all. Matthew did a great job during his first camping experience.

We did have beauty time where we had the hair washing train and all helped the person in front of us suds up and smell good.

The girls had a great time making up dance routines, having story time, and singing time. It was fun to adopt Danica for a few days while McKay hung out with the boys. He had a great time playing Crow, football, kickball, and sharing lots of not so funny jokes.

I learned that on the next camp out I need to bring an air mattress and my glasses. Other than that it was a fantastic 3 days of reconnecting with nature and being with the ones I love.
