Spring Break 2010 (Part 1) "Remember the Alamo"

We started our Spring Break by a trip to San Antonio, we loved spending time on the riverwalk

we took a boat ride to rest after a busy day of walking the city.

The six flags that have flown over Texas. The USA, The Confederacy, The Republic of Texas, France, Mexico, and Spain.

McKay is studying Texas history this year in 4th grade. We'd had fun learning through him about our new home state, and have wanted to come visit the Alamo for some time. We read up about it the prior week, went to an Imax movie about it during the trip, and finally went and viewed the building where 186 men sacrificed their lives for their loyalty to a new Republic they believed was worth standing up for at all costs.

We were hoping to head to SixFlags, but due to rainy conditions when we woke up, we decided to head to the Natural Bridge Caverns instead. We loved hiking through the caves. We learned a lot about stalagtites, stalagmites and everything inbetween.

Debbie graciously made us dinner as we drove back to Austin to switch one ecstatic boy for one excited girl. (See part 2)
