The Launch of a Scouting Career

McKay went to scout camp during the first week of summer. The theme was The Seven Continents of the World. He earned many belt loops, made lots of crafts, and learned plenty of boyscout jokes. We went yesterday and picked up his scouting manual, so we were chanting the scout oath all day to help him obtain Bobcat status. He now can salute, shake hands, and recite mottos and scout oaths like the best of them. And of course, the thing he wanted to do most was build a fire. As soon as Dad got home they were off to gather wood and build his first teepee fire. He also bought a pocket knife with some birthday money. This looks like it will definitely be the summer of scouting.
