Emma's Baptism

Today my daughter was baptized.  It is a great feeling to see your child covenant to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Emma  radiated in every way.  She looked so beautiful, so pure, so desirous to start fresh and clean.  I was grateful for the sweet spirit that was present during the baptismal  service.

It was especially nice that she could be baptized with her good friend Aedan.  They are in the same class at school and the same class at church.

I am so grateful that her Dad holds the priesthood and is worthy and has the authority from God to baptize her and confirm her to receive the Holy Ghost.  We presented her with her first set of nice leather scriptures this morning.  We reviewed the promised that she was making with God and how she was committing to not only be obedient to the commandments of God, but to be compassionate, and comfort those who stand in need of comfort.  It was nice to have a few quiet moments to read some scriptures with her.  When Russ was giving her the confirmation blessing he encouraged her to study the scriptures diligently to feel closer to the Savior and to know what He would have her do.

It was nice to have so much support from family.  Suzanne spoke at the service and gave a beautiful testimony of the power of the Holy Ghost, Debbie played the piano, the cousins all sang, "I Know When I am Baptized",  and Uncle Jon said the closing prayer.  The Talbots had already left so they weren't in this picture, but we were glad they made the trek to be here.
I was so grateful for the spirit that was felt.  I hope Emma always remembers the sweet feelings of this day.
